Due to intense fighting between Cabindan Armed Forces (Forças Armadas Cabindesas) – FLEC-FAC – and Angolan Armed Forces – FAA – that has taken place on 29.2.2016, 13.3.2016, and 16.3.2016, FLEC-FAC’s politico-military leadership vividly recommends that every western expatriate living in Cabinda leaves the territory temporarily, and strongly advises against traveling to Cabinda (tourists and non-residents).
The security situation in Cabinda is seriously tense and unpredictable, and clashes may occur at any time and across the territory.
We are in a state of war and are victims of a massive military invasion by Angola.
FLEC-FAC recalls that the Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos is responsible for the predominant instability across the the enclave, as well as for the worsening of the situation, which will deteriorate in the following days.
The Angolan government continues to refuse to initiate a peaceful, honest and sincere dialogue, as FLEC-FAC has pleaded for decades.
FLEC-FAC reaffirms the profound will and availability to negotiate a lasting and definitive peace in Cabinda.
