FLEC/FAC’s military command says that violent clashes erupted between our forces and occupying Angolan forces on Saturday, 30 July 2016, at 19h45, and Sunday, at 14h30 in three fronts next to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo and at the village of Banga, in the area of Buco Zau. FLEC said 4 officials and 7 soldiers of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) were killed, as well as 2 FLEC/FAC members.
On Sunday, 31 July 2016, 6 FAA soldiers died and three were seriously wounded, after an ambush in Mviedi, Belize area.
In that operation, a vehicle of the occupying forces was hit by two FLEC/FAC rockers. Fighting is still ongoing.
FLEC/FAC´s military command noted the worsening of the military situation in Cabinda. The Angolan government announced the fictitious control of Cabinda, as FLEC/FAC’s forces are already positioned in strategic locations near Malongo and in the capital city of Tchiowa.
President José Eduardo dos Santos refuses to abide by the cease-fire announced by FLEC/FAC’s politico-military leadership, despite the series of military defeats. FLEC/FAC states its availability to establish an honest and serious dialogue between Luanda and FLEC/FAC, as the only way to attain peace.
